Description

Saadiyat Reef is located west of Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE. It is an easy dive site, great for open water students. Depth is 8-10m depending on tide and the reef is surrounded by flat sandy areas perfect for skills practice. The coral is not in the best shape and visibility can be bad depending on the tides. On a day with good visibility, the place can be amazing!

The NYUAD Marine Biology department has been doing ongoing research on the corals in this area and you may see the tags and survey markers and grids if you come diving here with me.

Marine life

I’ve seen just about everything the Arabian Gulf has to offer at this site. Turtles, Arabian Carpet sharks, cowtail rays, boxfish, angelfish, sergeant majors, groupers (hamour), batfish, butterflyfish, crabs, shrimps etc.
