Dive Notes:

5th Dive of our 2019 Musandam Liveaboard Dhow Trip.

It was a perfect place for Izzy to complete the Digital Underwater Imaging adventure dive. She is getting pretty good with managing her buoyancy along with the camera all while looking for a good photo or video opportunity. She is still learning the camera and I am sure that she will be getting amazing shots in no time!

Interesting Stuff:

The highlight of any dive at Octopus Rock in Musandam is finding the seahorses!

I love seeing them and they are a highlight of every trip to Musandam. This guy was hiding in plain sight on the SE side of the rock in a sandy patch in the soft coral forest. We almost missed him he was so well hidden in the small clump of coral. He was very shy and didn’t like my camera light at all so we didn’t chase him when he swam off – 1/2 a meter to another small clump of coral.

There are few more who hang out on the southeastern wall, but they are at 25m or so and that was a bit deep for a Jr diver. (Max depth for PADI Jr Advanced Open Water Diver is 21m).

The dive site is pretty interesting as there are a lot of varied areas. Rock walls, hard and soft coral, eels, huge schools of trevally, bannerfish, and triggerfish circle around as well as a few huge barracuda!
